Shimmy Mob

Shimmy Mob

On Saturday, May 13th the Tyler Belly Dance Collective (TBDC) hosted Shimmy Mob to raise funds and awareness to support East Texas Crisis Center! Shimmy Mob is an annual “flash mob” event, creating awareness of emotional abuse and domestic violence.

Cheryl Dawson, a member of TBDC, submitted a resolution which was adopted by the Smith County Commissioners Court declaring May 13th Domestic Violence Awareness and Education Day in Smith County. TBDC also received a letter from Governor Greg Abbot in support of their efforts to raise awareness.

The event included dance performances, drumming, vendors, raffles, and a silent auction!

Cheryl also coordinated a Give Back event at Raising Cane’s immediately following Shimmy Mob which all of the proceeds are donated to East Texas Crisis Center.
