Wine & Cheese Party
This event has been a staple fundraising effort since the early 1980s. The Wine & Cheese Party, held in early May, is a cocktail party in which the agency honors an individual or couple who have demonstrated outstanding support for the organization. The Event is normally held in a private residence in Tyler.
In 2002, the East Texas Crisis Center recognized B.J. & Dub Riter and the reception was held in the home of Kelly and Kevin Eltife. In 2003, the Center recognized Mrs. Watson (Emma) Wise in the home of Laura & Michael Young, the former residence of Emma & Watson Wise. Mrs. Verna Hall served as the Honorary Chairman for the 2004 event. The Robert M. Rogers Foundation and Trustees Robyn Rogers, Sheryl Palmer and Dr. Paul W. Powell were honored in 2005 in the home of Dr. & Mrs. James Clark. In 2006 reception was held in the home of Robyn Rogers & Bob Rice, honoring Rita & David Traff for his achievements during his service as the President of the Board in 2003 & 2004. In 2007, the event honored Rosemary & Harold Beaird, in the home of Cynthia & Whit Riter , raised $166,000
Our 2008 Wine & Cheese Party was held in the home Sunni & Britt Brookshire, honoring Sheriff J.B. Smith for his dedication and support to the mission of the East Texas Crisis Center. Sheriff J.B. Smith has dedicated nearly thirty years of service to the Center. Credited as a co-founder, Sheriff Smith paved the way for countless victims of family violence and sexual assault to have the ability to seek a safe haven.
This year's event raised $180,000, the most successful event to date. Sponsorships are $250, $500, $1,000, $2,500, $5,000, $10,000, $20,000.
Henderson County Wine & Cheese Party
A similar event is held in Henderson County which benefits the Athens, Texas outreach office.
This
event is held at The Arboretum. Sponsorships are similar to the event in
Tyler.
